Baked Mac & Cheese
A creamy, extra-cheesy version of a classic mac & cheese dish that is sure to impress the family!
Ingredients
- 1 cup elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup parmesan cheese, shredded
- 2½ cups milk
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons butter
Method
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F
Step 2
Boil water in a sauce pan, add elbow macaroni and cook for 6-8 minutes or as directed on packaging
Step 3
In a second sauce pan, melt the ¼ cup butter over medium heat
Step 4
Stir in the flour to make a roux
Step 5
Very slowly, add the milk to the roux, stirring constantly
Step 6
Stir in the cheddar and parmesan cheeses and cook over medium heat until all the cheese is melted and sauce has thickened
Step 7
Put the macaroni into an oven safe dish and pour the sauce overtop
Step 8
In a small sauce pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat
Step 9
Add breadcrumbs and stir until golden brown
Step 10
Sprinkle breadcrumbs over macaroni and cheese
Step 11
Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes
Step 12
Remove from oven and let cool -- serve and enjoy!
